Earlier this month, WrestleMania 34 took place in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was nowhere to be seen. A lot of fans speculated that The Rock would appear during the show as a surprise, but prior commitments forced “The Great One” to miss out on the show. It was rumored that WWE had made some plans for The Rock. One reported plan would have seen him compete in a match while the other claimed that The Rock would appear during an in-ring segment with Raw Superstar Elias. Although The Rock was not able to attend the show, it has just been revealed that Johnson and WWE did indeed try to work out a deal for him to appear during the event.
While speaking with UK radio station Kiss FM, Johnson revealed that he and Vince McMahon did have a conversation prior to this year’s WrestleMania and the subject of him appearing during the show was discussed. The Rock confirmed that WWE had tried to get The Rock involved in the mixed tag team match as Ronda Rousey’s partner against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Johnson said that he had to make an appearance in Shanghai and was therefore unable to compete on the show. Raw General Manager Kurt Angle teamed up with Rousey at WrestleMania instead in what most fans have cited as the best match on the show. Feel free to check out Johnson’s full interview posted down below:

It had previously been revealed that the UK’s World of Sport show would be revived on ITV in 2017, but a new edition of the series never occurred. Planned TV tapings were halted after Impact Wrestling and Jeff Jarrett became involved with the project, and the revival was seemingly abandoned not long after that. Several months later, PWInsider has just reported that a TV taping for World of Sport is now scheduled to take place on May 10th-12th in Norwich, England. There is currently no word on who will be competing on the upcoming television tapings. The announcement of World of Sport’s sudden revival comes just a few weeks removed from WWE announcing that a second United Kingdom Championship tournament will be held in the UK in June.
