Gawker has responded to Hulk Hogan’s $100 million lawsuit against them for distributing clips of his sex tape, claiming that they did not damage Hogan’s reputation – because it was already in bad shape.
TMZ reports that Gawker has filed a request for the lawsuit to be thrown out for several reasons. Part of Hogan’s argument that he’s suing due to damage to his reputation – however, Gawker claims that Hogan already admitted to being an adulterer in his 2009 autobiography, so they didn’t reveal anything new.
Gawker also makes the case that Hogan is an international celebrity and a sex tape featuring him is news – so they are not out of bounds by distributing clips of it.
Gawker does not want to reveal the source who sent them the tape and are citing laws protecting journalists’ sources.
