Unfortunately, it looks like WWE’s most famous hugger is going to be missing out on her very first SummerSlam pay-per-view appearance. It was reported shortly after her match on Raw ended this week that Bayley actually suffered a nasty shoulder injury. WWE personnel were remaining optimistic that the injury would not be too serious at first. Sadly, the injury does appear to be a devastating one that is scheduled to keep Bayley out of in-ring action for a while, and this would mean that she is no longer going to be able to compete for the Raw Women’s Championship at the SummerSlam pay-per-view later on this very month.
Bayley’s injury is now said to be a very serious one. In fact, The Dirty Sheets podcast now claims that WWE believes that there is a 90% chance that she will indeed not be able to go through with her already announced match against Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. Fortunately, it appears as though WWE has already come up with a solution to their plans. Reportedly, the company was planning to have a Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax match at the show. It appears that the company is still going to be having that match at some point, and the winner will then earn the right to take Bayley’s spot in the championship match against Bliss.
It is unclear whether the Sasha Banks/Nia Jax match will be taking place on a Raw show before SummerSlam, or if it will be happening at the event itself. Regardless, the plan is now to have Sasha win the match against Jax, then face Bliss for the title at the pay-per-view. With Sasha rumored to be turning heel soon, her taking Bayley’s spot could help pave the way for an eventual match between the two of them down the line. Meanwhile, it appears as though Bayley will have no choice but to take some time off and rehabilitate herself. While the match is rumored to be changed, WWE has not officially changed the Bayley/Bliss match as of yet. It is unclear how long Bayley is expected to be gone for if she is indeed injured.
